Recruiting Timeline 
Freshman Year
Get a good start in the classroom. Good grades will increase your options.
Be as active as possible, and never put your stick down for more then 5 days.
Go see a college lacrosse game and watch as much college lacrosse as you can record on TV.
Attend a camp that works on fundamentals or a position camp.
Sign up for rising sophomore recruiting camps.
 
Sophomore Year
Maintain a solid academic standing at your school
Enroll in an SAT prep course and take the PSAT. NOT DURING LACROSSE SEASON!!!!!
Meet with your schools guidance counselor and begin to prepare a list of schools in your academic and financial range. Consider these schools lacrosse programs.
Work hard on your fundamentals.
Sign up for lacrosse camps at colleges you may be interested in to begin your exposure.
Try to visit colleges during the summer to get a sense of what campuses are like.
 
Fall of Junior Year
Academic performance is key. This year will be a large part of what college coaches look at to see if you fit their schools academic criteria.
Begin emailing/writing college coaches so they know you are interested in the program. Tell them where you will be playing and send them a schedule of all your events.
Take an SAT Prep course. Be prepared to take the SATs in the fall or winter NOT in the spring.
Work with your school’s college counseling office to narrow your list of colleges.
Try to visit colleges you are interested in during your free time.
 
December of Junior Year
Players should register for (1) individual recruiting camp (not a team camp)
Register with the NCAA Clearing House if you are interested in D1 schools.
 
January - February of Junior Year
Develop list of approximately 15 schools you are interested in attending. Make sure your HS coach, NoVa West coach, parents and counselor are all aware of list.
Hit the weights!!!!
 
April - May of Junior Year
Have great Junior lacrosse season. Make sure your games are taped!!!!!! This will be the time the college coaches remember and gage your potential from.
Players should e-mail coaches off their "Interest List" to find out what recruiting camps that coaching staff is attending and they should state which camps they are going to.
Sign up for summer league.
Check on junior day visits for schools you are interested in and ones that have written you.
 
June - End of Junior Year
Take as many unofficial visits to see the campuses as you need.
 
July 1st after Junior Year
Coaches can now contact you by phone for the first time. (June 15th)
Start to set your official visits for Division 1 schools (you can take 5).
You can visit as many Division 2 and 3 schools as you wish
You should be playing summer ball.
 
Summer prior to Senior Year
Participate in (1) individual recruiting camp.
Travel with you NoVa West Crusaders Lacrosse team to all camps.
Keep NoVa West coaches, parents and HS coach aware of all contact you receive from college coaches.
Don’t panic if you don’t get called on July 1st as there is a ton of time left in the recruiting process.
Start to check into sources for academic money, grants and financial aid.
If possible edit "Interest List" (e.g., add, delete schools) if you can.
Keep in constant with coaches who are interested in you via email and phone.
Register for fall ball.
 
September 1st of Senior Year
Keep your grades high.
Finalize any application essays topic and have it reviewed by your HS English teacher.
Schedule AP exams – should be in May. Inform coach so there is no conflict with game schedule.
Play fall lacrosse.
Judge level of interest in you by the programs.  Keep your coaches involved in the process.
Get letter of recommendation for teachers and coaches.
Finish sending away for applications from "Interest List" schools.
 
September-October of Senior Year
College coaches call players during this time and may invite players to campus for an official visit.
If you can register for November SATs (However, scores may come to late for lacrosse recruiting).
 
October 1st of Senior Year
Receive all applications.
Play indoor lacrosse with your team.
 
November - December of Senior Year
Formally apply to "Interest List" and schools recruiting you. Mail applications!!!!
 
January 1st of Senior Year
ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE IN THE MAIL
