Dodging & Shooting Clinics
NoVa West recognizes that young players today need
instruction focused specifically on their areas of interest.
This is why we have added the Dodging & Shooting clinics as
part of the 32LAX series. Learn the fundamentals of
effective dodging and shooting from a player who works at
this every day to compete at the D1 collegiate level.
NoVa West is very fortunate to have Devin Pinkston running
the 32LAX series of Camps & Clinics as well as a Coach for
our summer select teams.
These clinics will cover the most extensive list of dodge
movements, off ball movements, and throwing forms/shooting
scenarios, known to lacrosse. By teaching how each skill
works and then perfecting the form through exercise
repetitions, the movements become 2nd nature to the players.
This becomes a major aspect of a players understanding of
their individual abilities and therefore allows them to
repeat many of the exercises when they self train, as well
as during game play.
These clinics
are open to all skill levels. Our goal is to help our boys to
keep improving, no matter what current ability level,
through small group sessions with a great deal of individual
attention. If you
become a better one-on-one player mastering individual
skills you will be a better
all-around player and a greater asset to your team.
If you want to improve your skill level so that you can
compete in lacrosse at the highest levels sign up for a
camp, clinic or personal lesson with Loudoun Counties most
prolific offensive player. Coach Pinkston holds the Loudoun
County single season and career scoring records and has been
a four year starter at the division I collegiate ranks.
NoVa West firmly believes that young players should learn
from people that have played the game at the highest level.
In order to ensure that each player will be tested amongst similar aged competition, there will be two dodge and shoot clinics offered each month. A Dodge and Shoot for 10
to 13 year olds will be offered on the second Friday of each
month, while another Dodge and Shoot clinic will be offered
on the last Friday of each month for 14-16 year olds.
9 year olds will be permitted by coach approval, as well as 13 year olds who would like to challenge themselves in the 14 to 16 year old clinic.

Having Devin work with Domenick was very
beneficial, not only from a skills perspective but
also from a confidence perspective. Domenick's
Winter sessions with Devin definitely helped
kick-start what turned out to be a very successful
Spring high school season. Mike Stumpo

| Harry had a 1 x 1 session with
Devin that worked on various of shooting ,
positioning and footwork aspects for an attackman
.The lesson was a little over an hour. Harry was
very pleased with everything they covered . He felt
it would help him immediately as the fall season
begins and has numerous drills and concepts to work
on. Devin did a great job explaining and breaking
down the various elements he was instructing. We
will be scheduling more instruction time with Devin.

My son, Haiden Shemerhorn, had a lesson in long
pole middie Defense with Devin. The instruction was
wonderful. We would definitely do more when Devin
is on break again. Elizabeth

| Jack and Mike had three sessions
with Devin. We were very satisfied with the
instruction. We generally have high expectations
for these kinds of things which usually leads to
disappointment. in this case, I am happy to say
that we would rate the sessions as a 5 on the 1-5
scale. I think that both boys improved their
skills, and their understanding of what it takes to
improve, as a result of the personal training.
Devin suggested that we have both boys train at the
same time, which proved to a very good call. I
think it was better than one-on-one because there
was no down time for either player and the subtle
competition between them probably pushed them
further than if it were one-on-one instruction. The
sessions were very well planned and efficient.
Devin made good use of every minute which left us
feeling like we were getting good value from each
session. I think the session content was spot on -
age appropriate and directly relevant to game
situations. The concepts and drills were better
than our sons had previously gotten from team
practices or camps. JD

| My nine year old son, Jack
Weyher, received 4 personal lessons with Devin. He
thoroughly enjoyed every minute he was on the field
with him learning. Everyday he asked to take
another lesson because he felt that he was improving
his game every minute he was in his lesson. Jack
truly looked up to Devin and wanted to learn all
that he had to teach. I personally saw Jack's
skills begin to change when he started his
one-on-one's with Devin. After each lesson Jack
would come home and practice what he learned and
hoped that in his next game or practice he would get
that chance to "impress" Devin, as he put it. Just
next time we need to face away from the garage
windows, they break easily. Not only did Devin
teach skills to Jack but he was a great role model
for my young guy. The quality of the lesson was
well worth the fee of $35.00, and then some. I
recommended to many on the team he played for that
this was such a great way to help your son get his
game on and move it to a different level. Jack
cannot wait to continue his LAX with Nova West, and
especially Devin, this fall and throughout next
year.(due to a possible move on our part we may not
be in this area)
