Jonathan Montes
Coach Outbreak

Jonathan has been the head lacrosse coach at The Calverton School since 2002. In that time he’s seen his team go from worst to first to consistently competing for the Maryland Independent Lacrosse League Championship.
 
2003 was a breakthrough year for the Cougars. Under Montes’ guidance the Cougars went from last to first place in the MILL.  He was named the 2003 Washington Post Southern MD All Extra Lacrosse Coach of the Year. Since then, the Cougars have continued their winning ways ending 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2009 as undefeated regular season MILL champions.  Since 2004 the Cougars have been to 5 MILL Tournament Championships capturing the title in 2005, 2006 and 2009. 
 
The 2005 season proved to be one of the greatest in the history of The Calverton School athletic program as Montes guided the Cougars to a school-record 16 wins and capping off an undefeated season with a victory over perennial league power and 2004 MILL champ The Heights School.  Following the 2005 campaign, Montes was named The Washington Post All Metro Lacrosse Coach of Year.
 
Since 2003, Montes has had 7 consecutive 10 win seasons with a total win loss record of 89-42.  He was named 2007 US Lacrosse Man of Year for his significant efforts to promote, develop and aid lacrosse at the secondary school level while improving the lacrosse opportunities for student-athletes in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area.
 
Montes Co-founded Southern Maryland Select Lacrosse (SMS) in 2002. SMS is the premiere off-season lacrosse program in Southern MD with a primary focus at the HS level on recruiting.  SMS has fielded teams with players from 19 different high schools and 9 different counties.  Montes is currently overseeing the expansion of SMS to include a U11, U13, U15 and the combined elite recruiting team with Nova West known as Team Outbreak.
 
Montes played college ball at The Ohio State University and is a former high school All American lacrosse player going 50-1 as a varsity lacrosse player with 2 undefeated seasons.  In his spare time, Montes owns and operates a successful Insurance and Financial Services Agency in La Plata.  He is married to his wife Heather and they have a son, Pierce (2) and a daughter, Isla (9 months).
